Dear Mr. Hampton:

I hope you are well. I am writing to be considered for an overseas assignment with Talbot Thingamajig, Inc. Specifically, I am requesting to be assigned to help open a branch of the company in India. I chose to study India in my training course because I am very knowledgeable about this country. Since I was born in India and I lived there for nine years, I am very familiar about its cultures and traditions. Furthermore, I can understand Hindi. This will aid me whenever I speak with a native.

Over the course of the next 7 ½ weeks, I expect to learn about India’s culture, food, business etiquette and some important phrases in Hindi. Having this knowledge will make it easier for me to speak to other business managers if they don’t know English, open a branch in India that will fit in with India’s colorful culture, and to get familiar with an Indian lifestyle.

Lastly, I think I would be a great addition to this team because I am a quick learner, dedicated worker, and an adaptable person. For example, I learned a new language in about two months when my family moved to Pune. At the age of seven I knew a total of five different languages. This shows that I’m a quick learner. I also was a honor student for three consecutive years. This exemplifies that I am a dedicated worker. Finally, because I have moved to many different places, I show the characteristics of an adaptable person.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Jayasri Adari
